مجد الملك أبو الفضل جعفر ابن شمس الخلافة أبي عبد الله محمد ابن شمس الخلافة مختار، الأفضلي الشاعر، بظاهر مصر. لقي جماعة من الأدباء. وكتب الخط الجيد. وكان، مع علو سنه وضعف جسمه، ذهنه حاضر وقريحته متوقدة. وله تصانيف تدل على فضله. وحدث بديوانه، وسمعت منه بالقاهرة وبالمنصورة. وكان أحد الفضلاء المذكورين والشعراء المشهورين، وانتشر شعره. وامتدح جماعة من الأعيان. وسألته عن مولده، فقال: في المحرم سنة ثلاث وأربعين وخمس مئة.٢٠١٥ - وفي الرابع والعشرين من المحرم توفي الشيخ
