أبو الفرج محمد بن عبيد الله بن محمد بن علي، الواسطي المقرئ الوكيل المعروف بخنفر، ببغداد، ودفن من الغد بباب أبرز. ومولده بواسط في سنة ثمان وأربعين وخمس مئة. قرأ القرآن الكريم بواسط على جماعة من شيوخها. وقرأ ببغداد على أبي بكر محمد بن خالد الرزاز، وغيره. وسمع من الرزاز المذكور، ومن أبي الحسين عبد الحق بن عبد الخالق بن يوسف، وأبي الفضل منوجهر بن محمد بن تركانشاه، وغيرهم. ⦗٨٢⦘ وحدث. وكان شيخا حسنا فيه تميز، وله معرفة بالأمور الشرعية.١٨٨٦ - وفي سابع رجب توفي الشيخ الصالح
