أبو الحسن علي بن حميد المعروف بابن الصباغ، بقنا من صعيد مصر الأعلى، ودفن برباطه بها. صحب جماعة من الصالحين وانتفع به جماعة كبيرة. واجتمعت به بقنا في سنة ست وست مئة. وقدم أيضا الفسطاط وأقام به يسيرا وتوجه إلى موضعه وظهرت بركاته على الذين صحبوه وهدى الله تعالى به خلقا. وكان حسن التربية للمريدين ينظر في مصالحهم الدينية وتكثيرها والثبات عليها كما ينظر محصل الدنيا لأربابها.١٤١٨ - وفي ليلة السادس عشر من شعبان توفي الشيخ
