أبو الفرج عبد الرحمان ابن الشيخ الفقيه أبي الفضل شجاع بن الحسن البغدادي الحنفي، ببغداد، ودفن من الغد عند مشهد الإمام أبي حنيفة ﵁. ومولده في ذي القعدة سنة تسع وثلاثين وخمس مئة. تفقه على والده وعلى غيره، وسمع من الحافظ أبي الفضل محمد بن ناصر، وأبي العباس أحمد بن يحيى بن ناقة وغيرهما. وحدث. وكانت له معرفة حسنة بمذهب الإمام أبي حنيفة ﵁ وأفتى، ودرس بمشهد الإمام أبي حنيفة ﵁ نيابة عن المدرسين به. وأضر في آخر عمره. ووالده الفقيه أبو الفضل شجاع كان أحد المتميزين من الفقهاء الحنفية مع دين وصلاح اشتهر به.١٢٥٨ - وفي الثامن والعشرين من شعبان توفي الفقيه
