أبو عبد الله محمود بن أحمد بن عبد الرحمان الثقفي المضري الأصبهاني، بمدينة أصبهان. ومولده بها في سنة سبع عشرة وخمس مئة. حدث عن أبي الفرج سعيد بن أبي الرجاء الصيرفي، وأبي عبد الله الحسين بن عبد الملك الخلال، وأبي بكر محمد بن علي بن أبي ذر الصالحاني، وأبي نصر أحمد بن عمر الغازي، وأبي القاسم زاهر بن طاهر الشحامي وغيرهم. وكان إمام الجامع العتيق بأصبهان. وهو مضري: بضم الميم وفتح الضاد المعجمة، وهو منسوب إلى مضر بن نزار بن معد بن عدنان. فأما (أبو) الفتح محمد بن علي المضري الهروي فهو منسوب إلى جده مضر.١١١١ - وفي الخامس من رجب توفي الشيخ الصالح
