أبو العباس أحمد بن علي بن محمد بن حيان الأسدي العدل بالكوفة. ومولده في شهر رمضان سنة أربع وعشرين وخمس مئة. سمع بالكوفة من الشريف أبي البركات عمر بن إبراهيم العلوي، وأبي الحسن محمد بن محمد بن غبرة الحارثي، وأبي العباس أحمد بن يحيى بن ناقة المسلي، وغيرهم. وحدث ببغداد. ويقال: كانت وفاته في الحادي عشر من شهر رمضان.٩٠٣ - وفي الحادي والعشرين من شهر رمضان توفي الشيخ الأجل
