أبو الحسن علي بن الحسن بن عنتر الحلي المعروف بشميم، بالموصل. قرأ الأدب ببغداد على أبي محمد عبد الله بن أحمد ابن الخشاب وغيره من أهل الأدب، وحفظ جملة من أشعار العرب، وحصل من النحو واللغة طرفا جيدا. ونظم الشعر الجيد، وجمع من شعره كتابا سماه (الحماسة). ودخل الشام ومدح جماعة من أمرائها. وهو منسوب إلى الحلة المزيدية. وعنتر: بفتح العين المهملة وسكون النون وفتح التاء ثالث الحروف وبعدها راء مهملة. وشميم: بضم الشين المعجمة وفتح الميم وسكون الياء آخر الحروف وبعدها ميم.٨٨٤ - وفي أوائل جمادى الأولى توفي الشيخ
