أبو الحسن علي بن محمد بن غليس اليمني الزاهد، بدمشق، ودفن بالباب الصغير بالقرب من أبي الدرداء –﵄ وكان الجمع متوفرا، ولم يبلغ الستين فيما يظن. سمع بالقدس الشريف من الحافظ أبي محمد القاسم ابن الحافظ أبي القاسم الدمشقي، وذكر أنه سمع بمكة. وكان من المشهورين بالصلاح والخير. وغليس: بضم الغين المعجمة وبعد اللام المفتوحة ياء آخر الحروف ساكنة وسين مهملة.٦٧٩ - وفي الثالث والعشرين من شهر رمضان توفي الشيخ
