    أبو الحسن علي بن أبي الفضل جابر بن زهير بن علي القاضي البطائحي وهو منحدر من بغداد إلى واسط ومولده في شهر رمضان سنة تسع وعشرين وخمس مئة. تفقه على مذهب الإمام الشافعي –﵁ ببغداد مدة، وتفقه بالرحبة أيضا. وسمع ببغداد من أبي الحسن علي بن عبد العزيز ابن السماك، وأبي الفضل محمد ابن ناصر الحافظ، وغيرهما. وحدث بواسط بأناشيد. وهو من أهل قرية تعرف بساقية سليمان وتولى هو وأبوه القضاء، وتولى هو أيضا القضاء بالغراف وأعمالها.٤٦١ - وفي هذه السنة أيضا توفي الخطيب
