أبو الغنائم محمد بن علي بن فارس بن علي بن عبد الله بن الحسين بن القاسم الواسطي الهرثي الشاعر المعروف بابن المعلم، بالهرث: قريته التي كان استكنها. ومولده في ليلة السابع عشر من جمادى الآخرة سنة إحدى وخمس مئة. حدث بشيء من شعره بواسط، وبالهرث. وكان كثير المحفوظات، سهل الألفاظ، صحيح المعاني، عارفا بمعاني الشعر. طال عمره، وسار شعره، وانتشر ذكره. والهرث: بضم الهاء وسكون الراء المهملة وبعدها ثاء مثلثة، قرية من أعمال نهر جعفر بينها وبين واسط نحو من عشرة فراسخ.٣٤٥ - وفي الثامن من رجب توفيت الشيخة الأصيلة
