أبو عبد الله محمد بن عمر بن أحمد بن جامع الشافعي المقرئ المعروف بابن البناء سمع من قاضي القضاة أبي المعالي مجلي بن جميع بن نجا الأرسوفي، وأبي البقاء عمر بن محمد المقدسي، وأبي عبد الله محمد بن إبراهيم بن ثابت المقرئ، وأبي الحسن علي بن عبد الرحيم بن الحسن اللغوي. وأقرأ، وحدث. حدثنا عنه الفقيه أبو القاسم عبد الرحمان بن أبي عبيد الله الشعباني. وانتفع به جماعة. وانقطع في المسجد الذي بين البابين بالقاهرة مدة طويلة حتى عرف المسجد به فصار يقال: مسجد ابن البناء.٢٧١ - وفي ليلة الثامن والعشرين من شهر ربيع الآخر توفي الشيخ الأجل
