أبو الحسن علي بن الحسين بن قنان بن أبي بكر بن الخطاب الأنباري الأصل، البغدادي المولد والدار، الربي السمسار في الدور، ببغداد، ودفن بباب حرب. ومولده سنة خمس مئة. سمع من آباء القاسم: ابن الحصين وابن الطبر وزاهر والشروطي، وأبي غالب وأبي عبد الله ابني الحسين ابن البناء والقاضي أبي بكر الأنصاري، وأبي البركات عبد الوهاب بن المبارك الأنماطي وغيرهم. وحدث. وذكر أنه حج أربعين حجة. والربي: بضم الراء المهملة وكسر الباء الموحدة وتشديدها وبعدها ياء آخر الحروف. وقنان: بفتح القاف ونون مخففة وبعد الألف نون.٢٢٢ - وفي هذه السنة توفي الشيخ الأصيل
