    محمد بن المستنير، أبو علي البصري المعروف بقطرب. كان أحد العلماء بالنحو واللغة، أخذ عن سيبويه وعن جماعة من علماء البصريين، ويقال: إن سيبويه لقبه قطربا لمباكرته إياه في الأسحار، قال له يوما: ما أنت إلا قطرب ليل. والقطرب: دويبة تدب ولا تفتر. نزل قطرب بغداد وسُمع منه بها أشياء من تصانيفه. وروى عنه محمد بن الجهم السمري. وكان موثقا فيما يحكيه، وبلغني أنه مات في سنة ست ومائتين. ١٦٥٤ -
