محمد بن يوسف بن يعقوب ابن أبي طاهر الإربلي ثم الدمشقي الذهبي. أجاز له أبو محمد بن البُنّ، وجماعة. وسمع من ابن المسلّم المازني، وأبي نصر بن عساكر، وابن الزبيدي، وابن اللتي، وابن مكرّم، والزكي البرزالي، وعدة. وخُرّجت له مشيخة، وذيّل عليها شيخنا الذهبي.وكان مكثراً. وسمع السنن الكبير للبيهقي سنة اثنتين وثلاثين على المرسي. وكان شيخاً عامياً. سقط من السُلّم فمات لوقته في شهر رمضان سنة أربع وسبع مئة. ومولده سنة أربع وعشرين وست مئة. وكان قد تفرّد بأشياء.
