    عثمان المعروف بابن علم ابن الإمام العالم القاضي فخر الدين المعروف بابن علم. كان شيخاً فقيهاً محدثاً، له اشتغال بالقاهرة وتحصيل، وولي قضاء الخليل مدة، ثم تركه لولده وسكن الرملة، وكان له بها ميعاد وحلقة إشغال، وله معلوم على ذلك. توفي رحمه الله تعالى يوم الاثنين سلخ المحرم سنة أربع وثلاثين وسبع مئة. وهو والد القاضي برهان الدين قاضي الخليل. وكانت وفاة فخر الدين بالخليل ودفن بمقبرة البلد.
