جعفرابن علي بن جعفر بن الرشيد الشيخ المعمر شرف الدين الموصلي. ذكر أنه سمع من السهروردي كتاب العوارف بالموصل، ومن ابن الزبيدي بدمشق، ومن ابن الجميزي بمصر، ومن ابن رواج بالثغر.وروى عنه الدمياطي في معجمه، وقال فيه: المعروف بالحسن البصري. توفي رحمه الله تعالى بدمشق سنة ثمان وتسعين وست مئة. ومولده بالموصل سنة أربع وست مئة. كان من الأشياخ الفضلاء، والرواة النبلاء، حفظةً للأخبار، نقلةً للأشعار عمر فروى، وطال عمره في الخير وما غوى. ولم يزل على حاله إلى أن أصبح خبراً بعد عين، ونعب بشت شمله غراب البين.
