    أحمد بن عمر بن زهير ابن عمر بن زهير بن حسين بن زهير بن عقبة الزرعي، الشيخ الأصيل الفاضل شهاب الدين أبو العباس الزُّرْعي الحنبلي. كان جيّداً في قومه، معروفاً بالعدالة والأمانة، وله معرفة بالقسمة والمساحة، وفيه تودُّدٌ وكرم. سمع من جده. وروى عنه بدمشق وزُرّع وبصرى. وكتب عنه شيخنا البرزالي من نظمه، كان بينهما مودّة قديمة، وكان التتار قد أسَرُوا له ولداً نوبة " غازان "، فتوجه إليهم في طلبه، وله قصائد في التشوق إلى زُرع، وله مراثٍ في ولده عمر، كان كثير التلاوة. وتوفي رحمه الله تعالى في ثالث عشر رمضان سنة اثنتين وثلاثين وسبع مئة.
