محمد بن علي بن محمود الصابوني المحمودي الحافظ ذكره ابن عبد الهادي في الطبقات التي اختصرها من طبقات الحفاظ للذهبي فقال تغير قبل موته قال ابن أبي الفتح اختلط قبل أن يموت بسنة روى عنه الدمياطي والمزي والبرزالي وأبو الحسن بن العطار مات في ذي القعدة سنة (٦٨٠) ودفن بسفح قاسيون وكذا ذكر أنه تغير واختلط البرزالي الحافظ علم الدين في معجمه وكذا الذهبي في معجمه أيضا١٠٢ -
