[٦٠٨٣] يحيى بن وَثَّاب الكُوفيُّ الأَسَدِيُّ، مولاهم (¬١). سمع: عبد الله بن عمر، وعبد الله بن عَباّس، وعَلْقمة بن قيس. وروى عن: عبد الله بن مسعود، وأبي هريرة، وعائشة مرسلًا. روى عنه: الأعمش، وقتادة، وأبو حصين، ومقاتل بن حَيّان. وقال الأعمش: كان يحيى بن وَثَّاب من أحسن الناس قراءة، وكان إذا قرأ لا يُسْمَع في المسجد حَرَكة. وقال الأعمش: كنت إذا رأيت يحيى بن وثاب قد جاء قلت: هذا قد وَقَفَ للحساب يقول: أي ربي أذنبت كذا، أذنبت كذا، فعفوت عني فلا أعود، فأقول: هذا كل يوم يُوقَفُ للحساب. وقال الهيثم بن عَدِي، وعمرو بن عليّ: مات سنة ثلاث ومئة. روي له: البخاري، ومسلم، والترمذي، والنسائي وابن ماجه.
