[١٩٣٢] جُبَيْر بن حَيَّة بن مسعود بن مُعتب بن مالك بن عمرو بن سعد بن عوف بن ثقيف، الثَّقَفِيُّ البَصْرِيُّ (¬١). سمع: عمر بن الخطاب، والنُّعمان بن مُقَرِّن، والمغيرة بن شعبة. روى عنه: زياد ابنه، وبكر بن عبد الله المُزَنيُّ. قال أبو محمد بن حَيَّان الأصبهاني: كان يسكن الطائف، وكان مُعَلِّم كُتَّاب، ثم قَدِم العراق، فصار من كَتَبَةِ الديوان، فلما ولي زياد أكرمه وعظَّمه وقربه، فعظم شأنه، وولاه أصبهان، وله بالبصرة أولاد، منهم عاصم وزياد، ولزياد أحاديث مسندة، توفي في خلافة عبد الملك بن مروان. روى له: البخاري، وأبو داود، والترمذي، والنسائي، وابن ماجه.
