[٤١٧] عمرو بن غَيْلان بن سَلَمة بن مُعَتِّب بن مالك بن كعب بن عمرو بن سعد بن عوف بن قسي، وهو ثقيف بن مُنَبِّه الثَّقَفي (¬٢). قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "اللهم من آمن بي. . ." الحديث. عِداده في أهل الشام، وقد روى عن عبد الله بن مسعود، وسمع كعب الأحبار، لا تصح صحبته، وأبوه غيلان بن سلمة له صحبة، وابنه عبد الله بن عمرو بن غيلان من كبار رجال معاوية، كان أميرًا على البصرة له بعد موت زياد، ولم يرو عن النبي ﷺ سوى هذا الحديث.روى عنه: أبو عبيد الله مسلم بن مِشْكَم كاتب أبي الدرداء، وقتادة. وقال خليفة بن خَيَّاط: كان من ساكني البصرة. روى له: ابن ماجه.
