    تميم بن ورقاء الخثعمي عريف خثعم في عهد عمر أدرك النبي ﷺ وكان البشير الذي أبرده معاوية إلى عمر بفتح قيسارية وشهد فتوح الشام أخبرنا أبو الحسين عبد الرحمان بن عبد الله بن أبي الحديد أخبرنا جدي أبو عبد الله أخبرنا محمد بن عوف أنبأنا محمد بن موسى السمسار أخبرنا محمد بن خريم قال قال لنا هشام بن عمار قال يزيد بن سمرة وبعثوا بفتحها يعني قيسارية إلى عمر تميم بن ورقاء عريف خثعم فقام عمر على المنارة فنادى إن قيسارية فتحت قسرا (٢)ذكر من اسمه توبة (١) " ١٠١٤ -

    تميم بن ورقاء الخثعمي جاهلي أدرك الإسلام فأسلم، ترجم له ابن حجر في الإصابة فقال (¬٢): "أدرك الجاهلية وكان عريف قومه في عهد عمر وبعثه معاوية بفتح قيسارية إلى عمر، ذكره ابن عساكر في ترجمة الحكم بن عبد الرَّحمن، وكان ممن شهد قيسارية قال: حاصرها معاوية سبع سنين فلما فتحوها بعثوا بالفتح إلى عمر مع تميم بن ورقاء عريف خَثْعم فقال عمر: إلَّا إن قيسارية فتحت قسرا".
