    ٢٤٤٠ - (م) سهل بن عثمان بن فارس الكندي أبو مسعود العسكري الحافظ، نزيل الري (¬١) قال أبو نعيم الحافظ في "تاريخ أصبهان": قدم أصبهان سنة ثلاثين، وخرج منها سنة اثنتين وثلاثين ومائتين، وكان كثير الحديث والفوائد، روى عن يحيى بن يمان. روى عنه: عبيد بن الحسن الغزال، وإبراهيم بن يوسف. وخرج أبو عوانة الإسفراييني حديثه في "صحيحه"، وكذلك ابن حبان، وأبو عبد اللَّه الحاكم، وأبو محمد الدارمي. وفي كتاب "الزهرة": روى عنه مسلم عشرين حديثًا.
