بنت أبي عباية كان بدمشق رجل يكنى أبا عباية، فمر ببشر بن مروان وهو جالس على درج دمشق وهو أمير عليها وبين يديه رجل يضرب بالسياط، فقال له: اتق الله يا بشر! فأمر به فجرد، وضرب بين يديه سبعة عشر سوطاً، فمات، فرثته ابنته فقالت: من الوافر وراح أبو عباية نحو بشر ... فحمله بمصرعه الذهاب وعلى أن قال ربك فاحذرنه ... فعند الله يا بشر الثواب فعز لقوله ودعا رجالاً ... يقضون الأمور وهم غضاب فأهوى بالسياط فجردوه ... فيا لك مستغيثاً لا يجاب
