رجل كان عند سليمان فمدحه أخبرتنا فاطمة بنت أبي حكيم عبد الله بن إبراهيم الخبري (١) إذنا قالت أنبأ أبو (٢) منصور علي بن الحسن (٣) بن الفضل الكاتب أنا أبو محمد علي بن عبد الله بن العباس الجوهري أنا أبو الحسن أحمد بن سعيد الدمشقي حدثني الزبير بن بكار الزبيري حدثني أبو الحسن الأثرم عن أبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى قال قال سليمان بن عبد الملك لرجل أخذ في تقريظه على رسلك فإني لا أحب التزكية في المشاهدة ومديح اللقاء فقال الرجل إني لست أمدحك ولكني أحمد الله على النعمة قيل فقال سليمان بلغت بالمديح مناط الإحسان ٩١٥٩ -
