    يحيى بن عمير الغساني ذكر في ترجمته أنه قال هو والنعمان بن المنذر: كنا نغزو مع مكحول، فيحمل معه ديكاً يسمى محبوب، فكان إذا صاح من الليل قام فتوضأ وصلى، ثم يقيم أصحابه فيقول: قوموا صلوا ركعتين، واذكروا الله تعالى.
