محبوب بن رجاء أبو الضحاك الحضاري أخو الحسن بن رجاء كان كاتبا لأحمد بن طولون ولابنه خمارويه بن أحمد أبي الجيش وقد تقدم ذكر أبيهرجاء وأخيه الحسن ولم يكن بمصر في زمان محبوب كاتب أنبل ولا أعظم مروءة ولا أحسن منزلا منه وكان فيه أدب فمما ذكر من شعره وحكاه أبو العباس بن الفرات له قوله في جارية هويها وخببها (١) على سيدتها ثم أخذتها من عنده * أمل كان نظير الشم * س في بعد المكان استحطته إلى الأر * ض وفاءات العواني ودنا حتى إذ ني * ل بلمس وعيان استردته يد الده * ر فعدنا في الأماني * ٧٢٢٠ -
