محمد بن المغيرة الكوفي كان بدمشق في آخر سلطان بني أمية حكى عنه أخوه حمزة بن المغيرة حكى أبو محمد عبد الله بن سعد القطربلي عن سليمان بن أبي شيخ نا حمزة بن المغيرة عن أخيه محمد بن المغيرة قال كنت بدمشق حين قتل يوسف بن عمر قال فأخذ رأسه عن جسده وجعل في رجليه حبل فجعل الصبيان يجرونه بدمشق فتمر المرأة فترى جسدا صغيرا فتقول في أي شئ قتل هذا الصبي المسكين لما يرى من قتله وكان الذي قتله مولى لخالد القشيري يكنى أبا الأسد في سنة سبع وعشرين قبل أن يدخل مروان بن محمد دمشق ٧٠٢١ -
