محمد بن عدي بن أرطاة بن جداية بن لوذان الفزاري من أهل دمشق سكن البصرة مع أبيه حين وليها لعمر بن عبد العزيز له ذكر أخبرنا أبو غالب محمد بن الحسن أنبأنا أبو الحسن السيرافي أنبأنا أحمد بن إسحاق ثنا أحمد بن عمران حدثنا موسى ثنا خليفة (١) حدثني عبد الله بن المغيرة عن أبيه قال شهدت دار الإمارة بواسط يوم جاء قتل يزيد بن المهلب ومعاوية بن يزيد يعني ابن المهلب قاعد فأتى بعدي بن أرطاة وابنه محمد بن عدي وعبد الملك ومالك ابني مسمع والقاسم بن مسلم وعبد الله بن عمر النصري فضرب أعناقهم يعني سنة اثنتين ومائة ٦٧٤٥ -
