محمد بن حبيب المعافري من أهل برقة وفد على سليمان بن عبد الملك وسيأتي ذكر وفوده في ترجمة النعمان بن عبد الله الحضرمي قرأت علي أبي الحسن سعد الخير بن محمد عن أبي عبد الله الحميدي قال (٤) النعمان بن عبد الله بن النعمان من آل ذي الرأسين (٥) دخل الأندلس للجهاد ووفد منها إلى سليمان بن عبد الملك ففتح (٦) هنالك ومعه محمد بن حبيب المعافري فقال لهما سليمان ارفعا حوائجكما فأما المعافري فرفع حوائجه فقضيت وأما النعمان فقال حاجتي أن تردني إلى ثغري ولا تسألني عن شئ فإذن له فرجع واستشهد في أقصى ثغور الأندلسذكره ابن يونس ٦١٩٥ -
