علي بن محمد القرنوي ولي قضاء دمشق في أيام تتش بن ألب رسلان المعروف بتاج الدولة وجدت بخط شيخنا أبي الحسن بن قبيس أخذ القاضي القرنوي يوم الخميس الخامس عشر يعني من المحرم سنة سبع وسبعين وأربعمائة وضرب ضربا عظيما وحبس وقيل إن سبب ذلك أنه ذكر السلطان عن قوم من السلارية الخواص أنهم أرادوا تسليمه إلى ابن قريش فطلب منه البينة على ذلك فلم يقدر وجعل ابن أبي الحديديحكم بين الناس إلى حين مجئ نجم القضاة من الحج وحكى القاضي القرنوي بعد المسلة يوم الخميس أو الجمعة وأعطى القضاء لنجم القضاة ٥٠٨١ -
