عبد الله بن عبد الكريم بن الحسين أبو المعالي المعروف بابن الطويل الجوهري سمع بدمشق أبا القاسم بن أبي العلاء ونصر (٦) الفقيه ثم رحل إلى بغداد قبل العشر وخمسمائة وسمع بها حديثا كثيرا واستنسخ ما سمع وحدث ببغداد (٧) بشئ ثم رجع إلى دمشق فلم تطل مدته ووقف كتبه على الزاوية الغربية بشام من جامع دمشق وتوفي بدمشق قيل سنة أربع (٨) عشرة وخمسمائة٣٣٨٠ -
