سليمان بن يزيد بن عبد الملك بن مروان ابن الحكم بن أبي العاص بن أمية بن عبد شمس الأموي (١) كان بدمشق مع يزيد بن الوليد على أخيه الوليد بن يزيد فلما قتل الوليد سر بقتله لسوء سيرته وقبح أفعاله ووجه إليه عبد الله بن علي في أواخر سنة اثنتين (٢) وثلاثين ومائة جندا إلى البلقاء فقتل سليمان له ذكر في التاريخ أخبرنا أبو الحسين بن الفراء وأبو غالب وأبو عبد الله ابنا البنا قالوا أنا أبو جعفر بن المسلمة أنا أبو طاهر المخلص نا أحمد بن سليمان نا الزبير بن بكار قال (٣) وولد يزيد بن عبد الملك عبد الجبار بن يزيد وسليمان وأبا سفيان وهاشما لا بقية له (٤) وداود والعوام لا بقية له (٥) وهم لأمهات أولاد شتى ٢٧٠٧ -
