    حيي بن هزال السعدي شاعر مدح معاوية وحضر وفاته أخبرنا أبو القاسم بن السمرقندي أنا أبو بكر بن اللالكائي أنا أبو الحسين بن بشران أنا أبو علي بن صفوان نا ابن أبي الدنيا قال وحدثني محمد بن صالح أخبرني أبو اليقظان حدثني أبو الحسناء قال حيي بن هزال السعدي قد قال لمعاوية بيتين قبل أن يمرض * إذا مت مات الجود وانقطع الندى * من الناس إلا من قليل مصرد وردت أكف السائلين وأمسكوا * من الدين والدنيا بثرى مجرد *فلما مرض (١) قال ابعثوا إلي حيي ينشدني فدخل عليه حيي فأنشده وهو ثقيل ١٨٥٤ -
