الحسين بن حمدان بن حمدون أبو عبد الله التغلبي (١) عم سيف الدولة وكان من وجوه الأمراء وقدم دمشق في جيش نفذه المكتفي لقتال الطولونية وقدمها مرة أخرى لحرب القرامطة في أيام المكتفي (٢) وخلع عليه المقتدر وولاه ديار ربيعة سنة تسع وتسعين ومائتين وغزا الصائفة سنة إحدى وثلاثمائة ففتح حصونا كثيرة وقتل خلقا من الروم ثم خالف فبعث إليه رائقا فواقعه في رجب سنة ثلاث وثلاثمائة وظفر به في شهر شعبان في النصف منه وأدخل بغداد فشهر في شهر رمضان وحبس ثم قتل في ليلة الثلاثاء لاثنتي عشرة ليلة بقيت من جمادى الأولى سنة ست وثلاثمائة والله أعلم ١٥٣٢ -
