زهير بن عباد: قال فى الميزان: زهير بن عباد الرواسى، عن أبى بكر بن شعيب، وعنه حسين بن حميد العتكى. قال الدارقطنى: مجهول. قلت: هو ابن عم وكيع ابن الجراح، كوفى نزل مصر وحدث عن مالك، وحفص بن ميسرة، وجماعة، وعنه الحسن بن سفيان، والحسن بن فرح العرنى، وأبو حاتم الرازى، ووثقه آخرون، مات سنة ثمان وثلاثين ومائتين. قلت: وروى عنه أيضًا روح بن الفرج القطان شيخ الطحاوى، وروى له أبو جعفر الطحاوى.
