١٥٧٢ - سفيان بن حبيب البصري. * قال البخاري: قال يحيى القطان: كان سفيان بن حبيب عالمًا بحديث شعبة، وابن أبي عروبة. (ت الكبير) ٤/ ٢٠٦٨. و (ت الصغير) ٢/ ٢٢٩. * وقال أبو داود: أثبت الناس في شعبة بعد يحيى بن سعيد (آجري) ٥/ ق ١٠. * وقال يعقوب بن سفيان: سمعت عليًّا، وذكر مَنْ طلَبَ الحديث، فقال: لم يكن من أصحابنا ممن طَلَبَه وعني به وحفظه وأقام عليه حتى حَدَّثَ ولم يزل فيه إلا ثلاثة: يحيى بن سعيد، وسفيان بن حبيب، ويزيد بن زريع، هؤلاء لم يَدَعوه منذ طلبوه، لم يشتغلوا عنه، ولم يزالوا فيه إلى أن حدَّثوا.
