عُثْمان بن حَيَّان (٠٠٠ - ١٥٠ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ٧٦٧ م) عثمان بن حيان بن معبد المري، أبو المغراء: وال، من الغزاة، من أهل دمشق. استعمله الوليد الأموي على المدينة سنة ٩٣ هـ وكان في سيرته عنف، فعزلهسليمان بن عبد الملك سنة ٦ وولي الصائفة سنة ١٠٣ وغزا قيصرة (من أرض الروم) سنة ١٠٤ وهو ثقة عند أهل الحديث (١) .
