٣٦٢٤ - عثمان بن أبي العاص بن بشر بن عبد (¬٣) بن دهمان الثقفي، يكنى أبا عبد الله (¬٤). (ند نع بر بغ). استعمله رسول الله ﷺ على الطائف، فلم يزل عليها إلى سنتين من خلافة عمر، ثم عزله عمر وولاه سنة خمس عشرة على عمان والبحرين، وسكن عثمان البصرة ومات في خلافة معاوية سنة إحدى وخمسين، والحسن أروى الناس عنه، وقد قيل: إنه لم يسمع منه، وعثمان كان سبب إمساك ثقيف عن الردة إذ ارتدت العرب، قال لهم حين هموا بالردة: يا معشر ثقيف كنتم آخر الناس إسلاما فلا تكونوا أول الناس ردة.
