ثم دخلت سنة أربع وثمانين ومائة ذكر الخبر عما كان فيها من الأحداث وولي استخراج ذلك - فيما ذكر - عبد الله بن الهيثم بن سام بالحبس ولضرب وولي حماد البربري مكة واليمن، وولي داود بن يزيد بن حاتم المهلبي السند ويحيى الحرشي الجبل، ومهدويه الرازي طبرستان، وقام بأمر إفريقية إبرهيم الأغلب، فولاها إياه الرشيد. وفيها خرج أبو عمرو والشاري فوجه إليه زهير القصاب فقتله بشهرزور (١) وفيها طلب أبو الخصيب الأمان، فأعطاه ذلك عليّ بن عيسى، فوافاه بمدد فأكرمه.
