    ٢٨٣٣ - النجم البالسيّ [٧٣٠ - ٨٠٤] (٣) محمد بن علي بن محمد، نجم الدين، أبو الحسن، ابن الشيخ نور الدين، ابن العلّامة نجم الدين ابن عقيل، البالسيّ ثمّ المصريّ، [الشافعيّ]. ولد سنة ثلاثين وسبعمائة. كان جدّه من أعيان فقهاء الشافعيّة، وكان أبوه موصوفا بالخير والديانة وسلامة الباطن. ونشأ هو على حالة جليلة من الرئاسة والحشمة. وباشر للأمراء، ثمّ لزم بيته بمدينة مصر. وكان حسن المذاكرة. درّس وحدّث عن عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن عبد الهادي بكتاب الترغيب والترهيب، وبصحيح مسلم، وحدّث بالموطّإ وغيره. توفّي للنصف من المحرّم سنة أربع وثمانمائة.
