    تتويج ملك العراق في شعبان من هذه السنة تمَّ تتويج فيصل الثاني بن غازي بن فيصل بن الحسين بن علي الشريف الهاشمي ملكًا على العراق، وكان شابًا أديبًا ويشد أزره عبد الإِله بن علي بن الحسين الشريف. ولمَّا أن كان في هذه السنة أصيب العراق بالفيضان بأن فاضت المياه فسببت خسائر فيها وحلَّ بهم كارثة من جراء ذلك فسارع الملك سعود إلى التبرع لها بمبلغ مليون ريال ونصف مليون مواساة للمنكوبين في العراق. وبما أنَّ ذلك الفيضان يقلق ملوك العرب فقد أبرق الملك المعظم إلى ملك العراق بالموضوع، فبعث الثاني برقية جوابًا له يشكر عطفه ويقدر اهتمامه بذلك.
