يوسف بن أحمد بن سليمان المعروف ب «الطّحّان» جمال الدّين، الشّيخ، الإمام، الأوحد، ذو الفنون. قال شيخ الإسلام ابن مفلح: كان بارعا في الأصول، أخذه عن الشّهاب الإخميميّ، والعربيّة عن العنّابي (¬١)، والفقه عن ابن مفلح صاحب «الفروع»وغيره، وكان بارعا في المعاني والبيان، صحيح الذّهن، حسن الفهم، جيّد العبارة، إماما، نظّارا، مفتيا، مدرّسا، حسن السّيرة، عنده أدب وتواضع، وله ثروة/. توفّي بالصّالحيّة يوم السّبت سادس عشر شوّال سنة ٧٧٨، وله نحو أربعين سنة، قاله في «الشّذرات». ٧٨٨ -
