محمّد بن محمّد بن موسى السّيليّ، شمس الدّين، الإمام، العلّامة، الفرضيّ، الحيسوب. قال في «الشّذرات»: قال العليميّ: قدم من السّيلة إلى دمشق سنة ٨١٧، فاشتغل، وقرأ «المقنع» وتفقّه على الشّيخ شمس الدّين القباقبيّ، وقرأ علمالفرائض والحساب على الشّيخ شمس الدّين الحوّاريّ، وصار أمّة فيه، وله اطّلاع على كلام المحدّثين والمؤرّخين، ويستحضر تاريخا كثيرا، وله معرفة تامّة بوقائع العرب، ويحفظ كثيرا من أشعارهم، أفتى ودرّس مدّة. ثمّ انقطع في آخر عمره في بيته. توفّي يوم السّبت تاسع عشر شوّال سنة ٨٧٩، ودفن بالرّوضة.٧٢٧ -
