محمّد بن أحمد بن عبد العزيز المرداويّ ، شمس الدّين، ابن شهاب الدّين، ابن عزّ الدّين، الأصيل، العريف، سليل الأعلام. كان من فضلاء الحنابلة، بارعا في الفرائض، مستحضرا في الفقه وأصوله، والحديث، والنّحو، حافظا لكتاب الله تعالى، أذن له التّقيّ ابن قندس، والعلاء المرداويّ، والبرهان بن مفلح بالإفتاء والتّدريس، وولي القضاء ببلدة مردا مدّة. توفّي بصالحيّة دمشق يوم الخميس ثالث عشر ذي القعدة سنة ٨٩٤، ودفن بالرّوضة إلى جانب القاضي علاء الدّين من جهة القبلة. قاله في «الشّذرات».٥٣٧ -
