محمد بن الطيب عباس (١٣١٨ - ١٣٩٩ هـ- ١٩٠٠ - ١٩٧٩ م) شيخ الإسلام الحنفي، العالم الجليل. ولد بتونس، ودرس بجامع الزيتونة، فتفقه في مختلف علوم الدين من فقه وأصول وتفسير وحديث، كما حصل على شتى أنواع علوم اللغة العربية، وأهله علمه الجم إلى تولي التدريس بالجامع الأعظم بدرجة مدرس حنفي في الطبقة الأولى، كما وظف في جميعة الأوقاف كعدل في قسم الأحباس الخاصة، وتولى الإمامة بجامع القصبة. محمد بن الطيب عباس وفي سنة ١٩٤٧ اختير ليتولى منصب شيخ الإسلام الحنفي بالمجلس الشرعي، وبقي في هذا المنصب إلى حل المجلس الشرعي، فتفرّغ لإلقاء الدروس بجامع الزيتونة إلى حين وفاته (٣).
