    الحاج محمود با (١٣٢٣ - ١٣٩٨ هـ- ١٩٠٥ - ١٩٧٨ م) عالم بولاري. درس على المرابط عبد الفتاح التركزي، وحجّ، فواصل دراسته هناك. عاد إلى بلاده موريتانيا، فأسس جمعية دراسة القرآن الكريم، ثم مدرسة الفلاح، التي توسعت شبكتها إلى العديد من الدول الإفريقية. كان له دور بارز في تعميم التعليم العربي الإسلامي وإنشاء المساجد، على الرغم من مضايقات السلطات الفرنسية له (١).
