    [يعقوب بن إبراهيم] بن حبيب أبو يوسف كان صاحب حديث حافظًا ولزم أبا حنيفة وغلب عليه الرأي وولي قضاء بغداد فلم يزل بها حتى مات سنة ١٨٣ في خلافة هارون الرشيد وابنه يوسف وُلّي قضاء الجانب الغربي في حياة أبيه وتوفي سنة ١٩٢ وكان أبو يوسف هو المقدم من أصحاب الإمام وأول من وضع الكتب على مذهب أبي حنيفة وأملى المسائل ونشرها وبث علم أبي حنيفة في أقطار الأرض وله الأمالي والنوادر. (قال الجامع) وله كتاب الخراج قد طالعته مختصر نفيس وجلالته مستفيضة وترجمته في كتب كثيرة وقد ذكرت نبذًا منها في مقدمة الهداية وفي مقدمة شرح شرح الوقاية وغيره.
