[محمد بن مسعود] بن الحسين بن الحسن بن محمد بن إبراهيم الكشافي من بيت العلم كان أبوه مسعود صاحب المختصر المسعودى فاضلا وعته أخذ العلم ولد بكشان سنة تسعين وأربعمائة وتوفي ببخارى سنة خمس وخمسين وخمسمائة فجأة بعد الصبح. (قال الجامع) يأتي ذكر أبيه إن شاء الله تعالى ومر ذكر ابن عمه علي بن مودود بن الحسين ومر هناك نقل عبارة السمعاني في تراجمهم.
