[محمد بن عبد الله] بن المثنى بن عبد الله بن أنس بن مالك ﵁ من أصحاب زفر ذكر ابن قتيبة أنه ولى قضاء البصرة بعد أن معاذ ثم ولي قضاء العسكر ببغداد ثم ولى قضاء البصرة ومات بها سنة خمس عشرة ومائتين. (قال الجامع) ذكر القاري أنه روى عنه البخاري في الصحيح عن حمد عن أنس رفعه يا أنس كتاب الله القصاص وهو أحد ثلاثيات البخاري وقد شرحتها بعون الباري وروى عنه أيضاً أحمد وابن المديني وروى له الأئمة الستة في كتبهم.
